Following the agreement signed in late fall between GRICS and Ellipse Synergie, technology development and integration work has begun to provide the Quebec education network with a brand new portal solution that will bring together the strengths of Ellipse Synergie’s ECHO Portal and those of GRICS Mozaïk-Portal as quickly as possible.
Reminder of the situation
Last June, GRICS launched its new Mozaïk-Portal for parents. It provides parents with the information they need to monitor their children’s success and communication tools with school staff. Other components for teachers, The firm Ellipse Synergie offered the ECHO Portal to educational institutions. This portal was recognized for some of its innovative features.
The partnership agreement with Ellipse Synergie allows GRICS to become the only distributor of the « parent support », « bullying support » and « assisted support interface (ISA) » functions for the Quebec market of public or private educational institutions. These functions will be integrated with Mozaïk-Portal to offer the network a unique product that will include most of the functionalities of both portals and will benefit from the strengths of both companies.
Terms of the agreement
In addition of recovering some of Ellipse Synergie’s highly effective pedagogical functionalities and allowing the distribution of complementary modules, the agreement allows GRICS to team up with Ellipse Synergie’s professional services and expertise in software interface and application functionalities in order to accelerate the development of the new portal and thus better meet all the network’s needs.
Next steps
The integration of Ellipse Synergie functionalities into Mozaïk-Portal has begun. A kick-off meeting was held at the GRICS offices in mid-January between GRICS and Ellipse Synergie employees and managers who will join forces to share their strengths. Ellipse Synergie consultants work with the GRICS product management team and Ellipse Synergie developers have joined the Mozaïk-Portal development teams.
The first phase of the project involves the integration of the « parent support » module, which will be offered for the 2017 school year. The « support for bullying » module will be available to school boards in early 2018. Finally, the ISA module (assisted support interface), the active monitoring and the behavioural module are planned for autumn 2018.

The new partnership agreement with Ellipse Synergie respects the orientations of GRICS’ 2016-2021 strategic plan, which aims to accelerate product delivery, improve the customer experience, propose new solutions and develop new partnerships.
